hi this is Laura Turner and today I’m
00:02
going to talk to you about how to
00:03
organize your classroom if you’re a
00:05
college professor you might not have
00:06
much say in what goes into your
00:08
classroom because other people will be
00:09
using it but if you are an elementary
00:12
teacher or middle school teacher or high
00:13
school teacher you’re going to have that
00:15
room as your room and you’re going to be
00:17
able to organize it how you would like
00:19
so today I’m going to focus on something
00:21
like that first of all make sure that
00:24
you take your desk and you put it in a
00:26
place that you want it to be if you want
00:28
it to be in the center of the room go
00:30
for that but I would advise actually
00:33
take the desk and put it off to the side
00:34
so you can have your own little space so
00:37
your desk can actually be the place
00:38
where you go you know when you sit down
00:40
to give tests stuff like that so you can
00:42
actually leave the board space open and
00:45
so the desk won’t be the focal point of
00:47
the room next make sure you have all
00:51
your supplies in or on your desk you
00:54
know you can put them in a little deal
00:57
like this of course if you have a desk
00:59
with drawers so you can put them in the
01:01
drawers just make sure that your
01:02
students especially if their children
01:04
cannot get readily to your supplies or
01:07
that they are marked in a place that’s
01:10
sort of off-limits to them you know this
01:12
is the teachers basket okay next make
01:18
sure that the students have a file
01:20
cabinet where they can sort of go in and
01:22
get supplies so that you don’t have to
01:24
take your own supplies and give them to
01:27
them make sure the kids can actually get
01:30
their stuff themselves next make sure
01:34
there is Locker space for food and for
01:37
book storage so that you don’t have lots
01:40
of food lying around all over the
01:41
classroom you want to make sure that
01:43
there is some space in the classroom
01:45
either already made their hopefully or
01:47
something that you’ll make yourself so
01:49
the students can put their stuff away
01:52
next make sure you can move the desks
01:55
around as you need to if you’re going to
01:58
be teaching a small class you might
02:00
actually want to have the desks in a
02:01
circle so that everybody can see each
02:03
other and thereby can talk to each other
02:05
see that you can do that this is also
02:08
going to help you just preparing your
02:10
classes when you go in to look at your
02:12
last room and see what you can do with
02:13
the space and finally make sure that you
02:19
keep white boards and cork boards for
02:22
announcements and or project details so
02:26
that you can have your own space for you
02:29
know this classrooms projects in this
02:31
class rooms relevant extracurricular
02:34
things that they can go to and those are
02:37
just some tips on how to organize your
02:39
classroom
